What is the Met Gala?

This year’s theme: Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld was a fashion designer and creative director who was best known for his work with luxury fashion houses such as Chanel and Fendi. He was widely regarded as one of the most influential designers of the 20th and 21st centuries, and his impact on the fashion industry is still felt today.

Lagerfeld began his career in fashion in the 1950s, working as an assistant to Pierre Balmain. He went on to work for several other high-profile fashion houses, including Jean Patou, Chloe, and Fendi, before becoming the creative director of Chanel in 1983.

During his time at Chanel, Lagerfeld was instrumental in reinvigorating the brand and making it relevant to a new generation of customers. He was known for his bold and innovative designs, as well as his attention to detail and his ability to anticipate and create new trends.

Lagerfeld was known for his love of cats! He adopted his own cat, Choupette in 2011 after she caught his eye while he was shooting a fashion campaign in Paris. Celebrities such as Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, and Jared Leto used Choupette as their inspiration for this year’s looks.
