 Class Descriptions

1. Fashion Design + Sewing is a great class for budding fashionistas (6 -13yrs)  who want to learn how to make their own clothing.  Students learn to use the sewing machine to create clothing for themselves. Projects change each semester but include a denim skirt, PJ pants, a tote bag, and a re-constructed t-shirt. Our little designers are given free reign to stylize and decorate their creations with our Bedazzler,  fabric paint, ribbon and trim so each product has their own unique touch. Projects are never repeated so our designers can take this class over and ove again to expand their sewing skills.

2. Fashion Art + Design is a class for creative students ages 6 through 13 years old.  Students learn all about fashion design by sketching the fashion figure, creating a style book of their favorite fashion images, designing their own fabric, and drawing clothing. This is a great starter class for a budding fashionista who wants to learn to design clothing. Students learn to sew by hand but do not work on sewing machines.  The class will conceptualize their own clothing line with a name, logo, and collection.

3. Fashion NYC teaches children all about the fashion capital of the world, NYC. We will visit showrooms, designers, and museums to expand our knowledge of the design world and New York City. We’ll draw inspiration from watching fashion shows, store window displays, and photo shoots. Guest speakers, such as fashion buyers and stylists, will offer their professional views on design and style with fun activities and games.

4. Design and Style is an embellishment class that will teach students all about various ways to “add on” to their garments. Guest instructors who specialize in millinery (hat making), fabric painting, beading and more will stop by to show our students how it’s done!
