Fashion Art Classes

October 27, 2011 in Classes, News, Slider, Student Work

We’ve been working hard at The Fashion class learning how to draw fashion. This week we began looking at fabric prints like Missoni and Liberty of London. We then started to design our own fabric making prints and patterns. Some students created a repeat pattern and others designed an entire page. These designs will be transferred onto actual fabric and we’ll sew a clutch purse out of our custom fabric next week!

We’ve also been working on 3D fashion drawings. Students begin by drawing any outfit of their choice. Instead of coloring we glue fabric, sequins and feathers onto the page making our designs truly stand out. This unconventional way of designing clothing helps us to understand different types of fabric and what it can be used for.

fashion design for children

The Fashion Art + Design class was designed to help children and teens ages six through thirteen and fourteen through eighteen understand the artistic side of fashion design. Grammar, middle school and high school (in separated age groups)  aged children are taught how to draw the fashion figure, design clothing, create fabric and design their own brand of apparel.
